How can you beat a day that begins with a sunrise like this!
Yesterday it filled the whole sky, and it was impossible to capture it all in just one photograph.
This morning the sunrise made it look like there was a wildfire. These photos are NOT retouched or enhanced in any way!
Eventually the sky settled down to just beautiful pink, golden, and blue.
SPECTACULAR !!
Because we haven't had snow since before Thanksgiving we've been able to work on outdoor projects like trimming the tree behind the office . . .
. . . and creating a nice pile of firewood and logs, many with interesting patterns in them.
The mild weather has been nice, but there is one HUGE problem - the rabbits are not hibernating! Instead they are climbing up underneath our cars and eating the exposed wiring there.
We discovered that much of the car wiring is covered with a soy-based product that the rabbits love to eat. This is not good , because when you try to drive your car, it shorts out and in some cases does not even start!
There are other projects we've been working on like painting little wooden handcart figures . . .
This may look like Elder Petersen has the mumps or is using ice packs on tooth aches, but actually whenever he uses a noisy machine on a project he wears these earphones to block the sound.
Last night we attended Alcova's Chili Night. In past years they have hosted a chili cook-off, but Elder Bushman won the grand prize last year, and I think they didn't want to compete against any of us again, so instead . . .
. . . they had an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party!
Always thoughtful, our winter missionaries made certain that we each had an ugly one to wear.
The "Alcova Ladies," Miss Kaye and Miss Susie, each wore colorful sweaters covered with little Christmas trinkets. The lady in the middle of us. Renee, had to walk around with an extension cord all night because her sweater plugged in. She did win a prize, however!

Sister Grover created a very unique entry from the only sweater she brought with her. Note the little Christmas images fussy-cut from Christmas fabric. Also note the special ruffle around the bottom! Everyone who wore a sweater got a prize, and hers was this gilded statue of Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus.
It is Kaye Eichorn's 79th birthday today, and we sang to her at the party last night and gave her the Christmas Quilt made last summer by Sister Smith and Sister Butler. She was delighted and loved looking at the Christmas designs quilted into it.
The other quilt was given as a door prize and she loved it and was very touched when she received it. Again, thank you to the wonderful missionaries whose time and effort were so greatly appreciated.
Even though we do not have snow on the ground - yet - our little Nativity Scene brings the Christmas Spirit to all of us as well as to our visitors. For one thing, it lets them know that we believe in Christ and celebrate His birth and His life.
